Learning support

At St Joseph’s we provide an individualised, differentiated curriculum for all students.

Our team of staff is highly trained in delivering intervention programs to assist students in reaching their potential. We incorporate a daily perceptual motor program working on fine and gross motor skills. We deliver intensive reading programs to students who struggle with reading and also offer a specialised program for Dyslexic learners.

Our specialised Learning Support Teacher works closely with classroom teachers, school officers and specialist staff from the Toowoomba Catholic Schools Office including Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, School Counsellors and Education Officers. Where it benefits our students, we also work closely with NDIS service providers.

The Learning Support Teacher also oversees the NCCD process (Nationally Consistent Collection of Data) identifying students who have ongoing learning difficulties or a learning disability so that funding is allocated and support provided appropriately.
